Please Hit Play by Smooth Kool

This is a little something something that I came up with as a dedication to the DJs around the world. I keep saying that, "Last night a DJ ruined my life...LOL" I say that because, this is a tough job!!! I got hooked from listening to DJ Uncle Jam at the Conway Skating Rink and on KUCA 91.3 FM. Not to forget or leave out, DJ Dr. Feelgood and DJ Special K at Club Cameo in NLR. They inspired me to jump into this business but, they didn't tell me how hard it was going to be. It's amazing to know that a DJ (Kool Herk) invented what we know today as Hip-Hop but, DJs are the ones that get shitted on the most. How can someone offer a DJ $100 to DJ a gig for 4-7 hours. A DJ will never be able to recoup the initial investment in equipment let alone make a profit. Go figure, huh? Plus, have you ever picked up a speaker or a rack full of amps or felt how heavy turntables are? Anyway, this is my dedication to the DJs (especially mobile DJs)... This is the ultimate mashup. For those of you who don't know what a mash-up is, a mash-up is: a mix created out of pieces of two or more songs, usually by overlaying the track of one song seamlessly over the music track of another. I specialize in this. I used over 80 different beats to compose this musical. Enjoy... www.myspace.com/djsmoothkool

August 20, 2009 06:21 PM PDT
If you like LL Cool J, Dana Dane, Doug E. Fresh, Biz Markie, De La Soul, etc., then you will love this mix. Although I started working on the mix before I 1st heard him but, this mix is also inspired by DJ Jaycee of V-103 (http://eargasms.podOmatic.com). I don't hardly listen to commercial radio so, to hear a DJ like Jaycee put it down the way he does, inspires me to keep going at a time when it seems like the culture is dying. I'll post the playlist in a sec but, for now, enjoy!!! Also, hit my partner's page and check out what's brewing in the A-State (Arkansas): www.myspace.com/billyburn1 He's a game changer and all we need are ears willing to listen. Podcast SummaryIf you want real mixes from a real DJ, then you'll love my podcast. Neo Soul, R&B, & Hip-Hop... You're welcome in advance! About SmoothWhat's good, Good People? DJ Smooth Kool is a versa-style DJ/Audio Recording Engineer/Producer/Rap Artist...and still will shake a leg every now and then. My purpose on this Earth is to enlighten via whatever it takes. DJ Smooth Kool is the summation of research and development in addition to experiences that are both common to the general population and unique to the individual all wrapped into one. My influences reach far back to the pioneers of the mid-80's all the way to the present. When I drop it, I like to use my Logic. When I feel like acting a fool, I like to use my Pro Tools. I'm knowledgeable and well rounded when it comes to the tools of the industry. Whether it's cooking up another mixtape, producing a banging track, scratching live, etc., Smooth Kool is down for the task. With the ways of the world currently, I like to spit political in front of some neo-jazz flava but, I'll rock any concept that stimulates the mind. Now let's get on wit it!!!
